"Fan S. Noli" University starts the academic year with more students

At the "Fan S. Noli" University of Korça, the third phase of registrations for the two-year "Bachelor" and professional programs has been completed.

As of October 3, 482 students have registered, or 15 more than in the same period a year ago. The university's rector, Lorenc Ekonomi, said that this year's registrations are at the usual quotas, with a slight upward trend, and it is hoped that the positive difference will continue in the coming days.

He emphasized that, by decision of the academic senate, two branches, French Language and Minority Language, will not be activated for this academic year, due to a lack of applications.

" Registrations for this academic year until October 3, in the middle of their second round, are at last year's quotas, a little better with 15 more students. I hope this difference increases. There are two branches in doubt that we, by decision of the Senate, will not activate, these are the French language and the minority language ," said Ekonomi.

The most popular branches continue to be Nursing, Sports, Finance and Information Technology programs, while greater interest has been observed this year in the Faculty of Agriculture and Tourism. At the same time, applications for the Master of Science and Professional Studies programs have also been closed, which, according to the Rector of Economics, have performed better than a year ago.

He said that for the first time, the Master's Degree in Agricultural Sciences is being opened due to increased demand, while the Master's Degree in Special Education has exceeded admission quotas.

" The most preferred ones are the ones that have always been, there are no changes in their specific weights. Nursing with sports remains at the forefront, then finance and IT subjects. This year we also have a change in the agricultural faculty where the number of requests has increased, but also in tourism. Master's degrees in general are much better than last year. This year, for the first time in the faculty of agriculture, agricultural sciences, we are opening a master's degree because there are more requests than in previous years. Also, in the 2-year master's degree for special education, there are more requests than the quota ," said the rector.

The rector underlined that all master's programs are about to open with a good number of students, and especially those related to digitalization and technology are maintaining last year's quotas.

" Also, the distribution of master's degrees is very good, all master's degrees are on track to open with a good number of students. Programs related to IT, namely digitalization, are in the annual quotas with the number of students ," Ekonomi continued.

The registration and application process is expected to be completed within the coming weeks, while university leaders are optimistic about a new academic year with increased interest and quality of studies./ CNA
