Blocked due to avalanches/ Qafë Thore-Theth axis reopens

The Qafë Thores area on the Bogë-Theth axis has been reopened to vehicle traffic, after it was blocked the day before due to avalanches and the significant presence of snow on the road.

The blockage of this road segment was recorded since Thursday, preventing the movement of vehicles due to intense snowfall and avalanches activated during the night. Snow removal vehicles have been working non-stop in the area, making it possible to remove large amounts of snow and restore traffic on this important axis for the tourist area of ??Theth.

However, authorities are calling on drivers to exercise maximum caution while driving, to be equipped with winter tires and chains, and to avoid unnecessary movements due to unstable weather conditions.

Meanwhile, according to updated information from Civil Protection structures for the territory of Shkodra District, the situation appears calm and without major problems.

In the Municipalities of Shkodër, Malësi e Madhe, Vau i Dejës, Pukë and Fushë-Arrëz, the relevant structures have not reported any problematic situations or emergencies caused by the weather.

Regarding the supply of basic services, at the district level, the supply of drinking water and electricity continues normally and without interruption.

On the road axes, according to data from DRV Shkodër and maintenance contractors, in the Qafë Mali–Fierzë and Hadroj–Qafë Bene segments, traffic is carried out only with winter tires or chains. While on the Bogë–Theth axis, although traffic has returned, maintenance vehicles are still on the ground in the Qafë Thores area and continue to work to clear the snow deposited by avalanches and guarantee road safety.

On the other hand, according to the Lezha Irrigation and Drainage Directorate, after about 5 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours, no problems have been reported in the drainage and flood protection infrastructure. /CNA
