"Albania's goal, EU membership by 2027"/ Balla holds meeting with MEP Kovatchev

During his visit to Brussels, the head of the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group, Taulant Balla, held a meeting with Bulgarian MEP Andrey Kovatchev, who holds the position of Vice-Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and Rapporteur for Albania in the Group of European People's Parties in the European Parliament.

During the meeting, Balla and Kovatchev discussed the progress of Albania's negotiations with the European Union and the country's prospects for integration into the bloc. Kovatchev stressed that Bulgaria joined the eurozone this year, adding that now it is the turn of Albania and Montenegro to become the newest members of the EU.

Balla emphasized the commitment of Albanian institutions to conclude the membership process within 2027, describing this objective as a national priority.

The meeting also focused on strengthening political cooperation and the support that EU member states can provide for advancing reforms and fulfilling European integration criteria by Albania. /CNA
