Avalanche danger/ "Disobedient" drivers, police patrol deployed in Qafë Thore

The Qafë Thore–Theth road axis continues to remain blocked and impassable for two days as a result of intense snowfall and high avalanche risk.

It is reported that the company contracted for road maintenance has requested the intervention of the State Police, after several drivers attempted to cross towards Theth, despite warnings of high risk due to the large accumulation of snow at high altitudes.

According to the announcement of the Albanian Road Authority, at around 08:30 in the morning, the police patrol arrived in the area and is monitoring the situation on the ground, preventing the movement of vehicles towards Theth until further notice.

Low temperatures have significantly increased the risk of avalanches at several points along the route. The area is known for its steep terrain and is considered one of the most problematic for vehicle traffic during the winter season. /CNA
