The Commissioner of the European Union for Enlargement and Neighbourhood, Oliver Varhelyi, received the Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, in a meeting.
The meeting took place in Brussels today before the start of the summit.
Varhelyi made a post on the social network "X" where he shared photos from the meeting and wrote that after the success of the first phase of legal reviews, also known as "screening", the EU is ready to open the first negotiating chapters with Albania .
"As we completed the review exercise, we are ready to open membership negotiations on the Basics - Group 1 - in the framework of an Intergovernmental Conference later this year," Varhelyi wrote./ CNA
