The former Speaker of the Albanian Parliament, Servet Pëllumbi, has passed away at the age of 89.
The bitter news was announced by the leader of the SP group, Taulant Balla.
"Farewell, our great Professor Servet Pëllumbi. How much we would have loved to have you on the 35th birthday of our Socialist Party, to which you gave many of your values ??in difficult times when you had to lead it. You also gave value to the Albanian Parliament with your irreplaceable leadership. Rest in peace, Professor Servet!
"The Albanian Parliament, the Socialist Party and the family will subsequently announce the ceremonies in honor of this great man," Balla writes.
Servet Pëllumbi was known as one of the figures who played a key role in the country's political developments since the beginning of the transition.
He has had a long political career in the Socialist Party and the Parliament of Albania.
