The opening session of the World Law Congress will be held today and tomorrow in Tirana.
"The rule of law is not given, it is built" - is one of the messages that will come as a common international voice for justice from the capital, which over the course of two days will be an important point of reference for one of the most essential topics for the future of democratic societies.
Organized by the World Association of Jurists in collaboration with the Ministry of Justice, and with the participation of government representatives, international judges, experts and legal academics from around the world, this event showcases Albania as a stronger voice in the international arena with a clear commitment to justice, integrity and a European future.
The activities will begin on May 6 with the ceremony of awarding Doctor Honoris Causa titles to distinguished personalities in the field of law, which will be held at the University of Arts in Tirana, while on May 7 the official Opening Session ceremony will take place at the National Opera and Ballet Theater.
Among the high-level guests will be the President of the UN, Javier Cremades; former European Commissioner for Justice, Fundamental Rights and Citizenship, Viviane Reding; Executive Director of the World Law Foundation, Angela Montoya; as well as other important figures of international jurisprudence. The President of the European Court of Human Rights, Mattias Guyomar, will also greet the audience through a video message.
The Opening Session will also be attended by Prime Minister Edi Rama, who will deliver a welcoming speech. This event marks an important moment on the path towards the World Law Congress 2027, reaffirming the commitment of the international legal community to a world order governed by law. /CNA
