Security measure "prison arrest"/ Constitutional Court rejects Ilir Beqaj's appeal

The Constitutional Court has decided not to review the request of former Minister of Health, Ilir Beqaj, regarding the security measure "prison arrest" imposed on him by the Special Court for Corruption and Organized Crime.

Beqaj had addressed the Constitutional Court claiming that the decisions issued by the GJKKO, the Appeals Court, and the Supreme Court violated his constitutional rights, requesting their reversal and the return of the case for retrial.

After reviewing the request, the Constitutional Court found that there was no basis for a violation of the Constitution and decided to leave in force the decisions previously issued by other courts.

As a result of this decision, the security measure "prison arrest" against the former minister remains in force. / CNA
