The Minister of Defense, Niko Peleshi, has spoken in the Assembly about the Albania-Turkey Military Cooperation Framework Agreement.

Peleshi recalled that Turkey is a country that has supported Albania in the most difficult cases such as the earthquake or the Covid 19 pandemic.

Pelesi also mentioned the support of the grant of 100 million Turkish liras that is currently being implemented for the modernization of the Armed Forces.

Thanks to international support, it was possible to purchase three Bajraktar drones and a fleet of Bajraktar drones.

Peleshi said that today is a new reality and the old agreement must be renewed, because Albania is an allied country in NATO and it must be clearly stated in the agreement, every 30 years also due to Turkish government legislation, the renewals of agreements.

"Turkey is a country with which we have an intensive cooperation in the field of security, defense and civil emergencies, I want to remember the support that Turkey has always given us in difficult days, such as the case of the 2019 earthquake or the Covid 19 pandemic.

The grant support of 100 million Turkish lira is currently being implemented for the modernization of the Armed Forces.

The interstate agreement on the basis of which we managed to buy the three Bajraktar drones, the Bajraktar drone fleet.

Regarding the field of education and education and training, 177 military personnel and over 4000 others have benefited from the short-term and long-term courses that have been developed in Turkey, but also in Albania. Today we have 32 students, 1 specialist, 1 doctorate in medicine and 1 doctorate in International Relations.

They participate in joint training and training in Turkey, such as "Strong Balkan", which took place in Albania with the participation of military personnel from Turkey.

We are engaged in joint operations, I want to single out Afghanistan, where we were together under Turkish command until 2021, also in other engagements within the European Union such as ALTHEA in Bosnia-Herzegovina, in KFOR we are under the command of a Turkish general. .

We held high-level mutual meetings, I met the Turkish counterpart on an official visit, we concluded long-term cooperation agreements in the field of security and defense.

In the field of support with medical treatments, on your behalf and here from this platform, I want to thank you for your cooperation and support, within the "Gata" protocol, we increased the number of patients supported by this protocol from 30 to 100.

Regarding the cooperation in Civil Emergencies, I want to remind and thank the Turkish government again for 540 houses built in the city of Laçi, after the earthquake, as well as for the construction of the Fier Regional Hospital.

From our side, as many times as we have been asked, we have been ready to support the search and rescue teams of the Armed Forces during the devastating earthquake in Turkey in February 2024.
