Accusation of corruption/ GJKKO sentences Vladimir Zoto

The Special Court has sentenced Vladimir Zoto, who is accused of corruption, to 8 months in prison.

GJKKO has decided to convert Zoto's sentence to probation for a period of 1 year and 4 months, provided that during this time he does not commit another criminal offense and maintains regular contact with the Probation Service Office where he resides his.

Decision of GJKKO:

1. The Special Prosecutor's Office against Corruption and Organized Crime submitted to the Court the request with the object: Sending for trial the criminal case in charge of the defendant Vladimir Zoto.
2. The trial of this case took place with the rules of summary trial. At the end of the trial, the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime with a panel composed of judges Erjon Çela, Irena Gjoka and Erjon Bani, with decision No. 47, dated 26.07.2024 decided:

1. The guilty declaration of the defendant Vladimir Zoto, for the commission of the criminal offense "Active corruption of persons exercising public functions" provided by article 244/2 of the Criminal Code and based on this provision his sentence of 1 (one) year imprisonment.
2. In application of Article 406 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1/3 is deducted from the above measure of punishment, finally sentencing the defendant Vladimir Zoto to 8 (eight) months of imprisonment.
3. In application of Article 59 of the Penal Code, the suspension of the execution of the prison sentence is ordered by placing the defendant Vladimir Zoto on probation for a period of 1 (one) year and 4 (four) months, provided that during this time not to commit another criminal offense and to maintain regular contact with the Office of the Probation Service where he resides.
4. Procedural costs incurred during the investigation phase in the amount of 20,000 ALL, as well as court costs, are left to the defendant.
5. Against this decision, an appeal can be made by the parties within 15 (fifteen) days to the Special Court of Appeal for Corruption and Organized Crime, which period starts from the day after the announcement of the decision. Tirana, on 26.07.2024./ CNA
