Këlliçi ironizes Spiropali/Debate with Pele?: Don't be a

Democratic Party MP Belind Këlliçi has harshly criticized the way the parliamentary session was conducted, accusing the majority and the Speaker of the Assembly, Niko Peleshi, of restricting the opposition's rights to speak and respond.

In his speech in the Assembly, Këlliçi addressed the Speaker of the Assembly, Niko Peleshi, asking him to distance himself from what he called an approach that turns the parliament into a "shield of corruption."

According to him, the opposition is facing interruptions and exclusions from sessions.

The Democratic MP also mentioned the case of his exclusion from sessions, a decision made by the Ethics Committee headed by Ulsi Manja.

He said he was punished after he requested that the Special Structure against Corruption and Organized Crime's request for security measures against the Deputy Prime Minister be placed on the agenda.

Këlliçi also criticized the initiative of the Socialist Party of Albania to change the rules of the Assembly, which according to him aims to halve the time for MPs to discuss from 10 to 5 minutes. He called this an attempt to limit the voice of the opposition.

In conclusion, Këlliçiu called on Këlliçiu to avoid provocations and remain at the height of their duties, guaranteeing parliamentary rights for all deputies.

"Since I'm returning after three months, I thought you had reflected and taken into account all the concerns of your partners, and the meetings you've had, since you're one of the few politicians who has been welcomed in America. But apparently, the departure of the Foreign Minister, as part of the English-speaking club in the Socialist Party, has forced you to radicalize due to some internal concern you may have."

You started with Mr. Balliu, he was also expelled for three months, you took away his speech. You tried it with Mrs. Zhupa, you continued with the head of the DP parliamentary group. I don't understand this approach of yours. It is absurd. This also goes parallel to the Socialist Party's initiative to unilaterally change the rules again and to halve the minutes of the deputies, from 10 to 5.

Niko, break away from the approach that this Assembly has taken to become a shield, to be honest, to become a shield for corruption. I was excluded by your decision-making and that of the Ethics Commission headed by Ulsi Manja, because I specifically requested that the request of the Special Prosecutor's Office for the security measure for the Deputy Prime Minister be implemented and that it be put on the agenda, because it is a priority issue. This is what Brussels demands, this is what the Albanians demand, this is what the European integration of the country demands. But it is absurd that after three months you come to parliament and the situation is more aggravated. It is absurd to deprive opposition MPs of the right to reply, to speak, and to even interfere in their speech...

It is shameful, this way of conducting the session. When you have no insults, no labeling, not even from the opposition deputies, and moreover, the leader of the SP parliamentary group stands up, insults the leader of the DP parliamentary group, insults the opposition deputies, speaks in the name of faith, and in the meantime the leader of the DP parliamentary group is drawn to attention. This is, this is unimaginable, honestly.

"Leave the provocations, leave these attempts to ignite conflict within the opposition. I guarantee you that it is good for you to remain at the height of your duty," said Këlliçi./ CNA
