Poisoning of Security Academy trainees/ Sori-Al reacts: Food is being imported

The Sori-Al company has reacted regarding the poisoning of 60 Security Academy trainees.

According to the company, during the monitoring conducted, cases of the introduction and consumption of food products ordered outside the contracted supply system into the premises of the Security Academy were documented. This element, according to "SORI-AL", should be part of the investigation of the competent institutions, as it may constitute a factor requiring verification.

The statement also raises concerns about the hygienic and sanitary conditions during food consumption. According to “SORI-AL”, there were deficiencies in some basic elements, such as the possibility of washing hands with warm water and detergent before meals. The company also notes that students in many cases consume food immediately after finishing training.

Following our previous statements and remaining fully committed to transparency and cooperation with institutions, the Company "SORI-AL" Sh.pk feels obliged to react regarding the publications on portals made today regarding a new event reported to the Security Academy.

Since becoming aware of the reported health concerns, representatives of the society have been closely monitoring the situation, staying in contact with the responsible authorities and constantly taking an interest in the health status of the students, who, according to the information received, are in good health and have all returned to the premises of the Security Academy.

This is the second time that such an episode has been reported in a very short period of time. For this reason, even after the May event, the “SORI-AL” Company Sh.pk took increased control and monitoring measures of the food production, transport, distribution and consumption process, strengthening self-control and supervision at every link in the food chain.

Within the framework of this monitoring, cases of the introduction and consumption on the Academy premises of food products ordered from outside the contracted supply system have been ascertained and documented. This is a factual element, documented by us, which, in our assessment, should be part of the objective investigation of the competent institutions, as any food consumed outside the controlled supply chain may constitute a factor that must be verified.

The company “SORI-AL” prepares and distributes over 1,000 food rations every day, operating for more than 23 years in the catering sector for public entities. Throughout this period of activity, the company has built its reputation on respecting food safety standards and has never faced similar episodes repeated in such a short time interval. This fact makes it even more necessary that every circumstance be analyzed in a complete, professional and impartial manner. In this context, we call on the responsible institutions of the Security Academy to, in addition to investigating this event, strengthen monitoring of compliance with the rules for food consumption within the institution, ensuring that food products from uncontrolled sources are not introduced and consumed.

Also, from the monitoring and verifications carried out by our staff during the provision of the service, it has been found that the process of consuming food takes place in conditions where some basic elements of hygiene and sanitation conditions are missing, such as the opportunity to wash hands with warm water and detergent before consuming meals.

It has also been observed that in many cases students show up to consume food immediately after the end of training. These circumstances do not appear to avoid or transfer responsibility, but to highlight that food safety is the result of the functioning of the entire safety chain, including not only the production and distribution of food, but also the manner and conditions in which it is stored and consumed. For this reason, we believe that these factors should also be part of the investigation and objective analysis of the competent institutions.

The company "SORI-AL" remains ready to cooperate with all competent institutions and requests that this event be investigated on the basis of scientific, epidemiological and laboratory evidence, without drawing premature conclusions and without unfairly damaging the reputation of a company that has been operating in this sector for more than two decades.
