Today, at the premises of the "Republika" Cinema in the city of Shkodra, the Bank of Albania opened the moving exhibition "Money Tells Stories: 100 Years of Life and Events, the Bank of Albania", a historical and educational project, which, after its presentation in Tirana and a stop in Pristina, continues its journey in one of the most important Albanian cities.
The opening ceremony was attended by representatives of local and central institutions, researchers, professors, students, as well as citizens interested in the economic and institutional history of the country.
In her welcoming speech, the Deputy Governor of the Bank of Albania, Ms. Ahmetaj, emphasized the symbolic importance of the exhibition's stop in Shkodra, describing the city as an important node of national memory, commercial tradition, and Albanian urban civilization.

She underlined that the history of money is not only the history of financial institutions, but also the history of people, exchanges, trust, crises and state building.
The exhibition "Money Tells Stories: 100 Years of Life and Events, Bank of Albania" is conceived as a journey through time, through which the public can read the history of Albania through the development of the monetary system and the central bank.
It includes archival documents, photographs, original banknotes and coins, legal materials and historical evidence starting from the end of the 19th century, with the vision of the National Renaissance for an Albanian bank, to continue with the first state-forming efforts after Independence, the establishment of the National Bank of Albania in 1925, the periods of war, the centralized economy, the transition of the 1990s and the role of the Bank of Albania as a modern central bank.

Special attention is paid to historical figures and personalities who have contributed to the development of the Albanian financial system, as well as the political and economic transformations that have been reflected in currency and banknotes over the decades.
At the end of her speech, Ms. Ahmetaj emphasized that this exhibition is an act of institutional memory and an invitation for public dialogue, considering money not only as a means of exchange, but as historical evidence that bears traces of power, crisis, reform, identity and national hope.

On behalf of the Bank of Albania, she expressed her gratitude for the cooperation with local authorities and all contributors in the realization of this project, inviting the citizens of Shkodra and beyond to visit the exhibition and get to know a century of Albanian monetary history up close.
The exhibition will be open to the public from March 3-7 and is suitable for all age groups, with a special focus on financial and historical education for young people./ CNA
