EXCLUSIVE/ Erion Veliaj's secret meeting in Durres prison

The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, who is in Durrës prison, detained on 13 serious criminal charges, held a meeting yesterday.

Sources from this institution told CNA that Erion Veliaj met for about two hours with Indrit Doda, head of the Internal Control Service in Prisons (SHKBB).

It is unknown why a senior prison official, moreover the person who is supposed to control prison services and personnel, enters and meets a prisoner.

CNA has learned that Indrit Doda was recently appointed director of the Albanian Anti-Corruption Commission with the arrival of Minister Besfort Lamallari at the head of Justice.

There are many questions about this meeting that lasted about two hours between Mayor Erion Veliaj and Indri Doda, head of the Kosovo Anti-Corruption Commission.

Asked by CNA about the meeting with Mr. Veliaj, Indrit Doda neither confirmed nor denied it, but stated that "meetings with detainees or prisoners are part of my functional duty."

A simple question that arises is why should he only meet Erion Veliaj and not Indrit Doda meet other prisoners?

What is the purpose in moments when there is a court process, he has filed requests with the Constitutional Court, he has opened a trial in the Administrative Court, dozens of other trials against journalists and his critics, and at this moment Indrit Doda appears.

We are not alluding to anything, nor are we accusing him, the question simply arises, what is the head of the ICRC looking for in Erion Veliaj's dungeon?

Why is he meeting the mayor of Tirana? Is he worried about a building permit? Or is he supposed to receive or deliver a message or a word about the great care that is being taken from abroad for Mayor Erion Veliaj?/ CNA
