Mayor Erion Veliaj's strategy took a new turn this Tuesday, revealing a clear dichotomy between public rhetoric and procedural actions in the two court cases he is pursuing. In the Administrative Court where he is attacking SPAK prosecutor Ols Dado, Veliaj has officially requested that the process be conducted with open doors and live broadcast.

This request comes immediately after similar statements about the process in the GJKKO, but behind this "will" for transparency lies a double standard aimed at manipulating public opinion.

In the Administrative Court, Veliaj is rushing to request a live trial because there he has the role of the attacker, trying to delegitimize the prosecutor who investigated him. Meanwhile, the paradox lies in the fact that in the Special Court where he faces 13 serious criminal charges, he has not yet filed any official request for a live public trial and in addition to this, he has been dragging out the judicial process for 8 months and has not participated in the sessions.

This shows that his calls for "transparency" in the criminal process remain only at the level of television propaganda and the statements of his lawyer, the defendant by SPAK, Plarent Ndreca, have no legal value in the file.

This duplicity in attitudes serves to create a political defense, as in the Administrative Court it uses the screen to attack the figure of the prosecutor, while in the GJKKO it uses the lack of an official request and physical presence to keep the process dragged on in procedural darkness.

This double standard proves that Veliaj is not seeking open justice, but a media platform to attack institutions, while avoiding facing the criminal evidence that has been awaiting him for eight months in the Special Court./ CNA
