The appeal of the GJKKO has rejected the request of the former Minister of Health, Ilir Beqaj, to replace the security measure "arrest with imprisonment" within the framework of the investigations into the SASPAC file.

During the hearing held at the Appeals Court of Kosovo, Beqaj requested a lighter security measure, but the trial panel decided to leave the existing measure of imprisonment in force.

There was also a procedural debate during the session. The former minister requested to be allowed to consult with his lawyer, stating: "Since you won't let me out of the cage, let my lawyer here inside the cage to discuss it."

His request was rejected by Judge Miliana Muça, who continued the hearing according to the prescribed procedures.

With the Appeals Court's decision, Beqaj will continue to remain under the security measure of "prison arrest" while the investigations and court process in the SASPAC case continue./ CNA
