The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Kaja Kallas, announced today the appointment of 33 EU ambassadors across Europe and beyond, including Albania.
Sofia Moreira de Sousa has been nominated as EU Ambassador to Tirana
She currently serves as Head of the European Commission Representation in Portugal.
Previously, De Sousa also held the position of EU Ambassador to Cape Verde.
The EU emphasizes through a statement that heads of delegations are the face of the EU around the world and the front line in protecting EU interests abroad, informing, implementing and projecting the EU's priorities and its foreign and security policy.
The appointments of EU Ambassadors will be formalized after receiving official approval from the respective host countries, where applicable, and completing other administrative procedures within the framework of the 2026 Rotation. /CNA
