For 1 hour door orders / "Amazon" activates drones for deliveries

Britons will soon have Amazon drones delivering their orders to their doorstep within 1 hour.

After a decade Jeff Bezos, the tech giant, is finally planning to activate them in the UK from next year.

Amazon has been testing its drone delivery service in two US locations over the past year and recently announced plans to use it in England.

The tech giant says customers will be able to order items weighing up to 5 pounds (2.26 kilograms) and receive them in under 60 minutes via drones.

This means that goods such as batteries, toothbrushes, condoms, cosmetics and office supplies can be delivered by drone.

Amazon had big ambitions for drone deliveries that sounded like science fiction.

In 2013, Bezos said he thought it would only take four or five years to make drone deliveries./ CNA
