In a blog post, Bill Gates referred to artificial intelligence, noting that it is humanity's most important technological advance in decades, as important as microchips, the personal computer, the Internet and the mobile phone.

It will change the way people work, learn, travel and communicate with each other.

Gates zbuloi se ai është takuar me ekipin OpenAI pas ChatGPT që nga viti 2016. Në vitin 2022, ai i sfidoi ata të trajnonin një AI të aftë për të kaluar provimet e nivelit të lartë të biologjisë, me rregullin e rreptë që ata të mos e trajnojnë atë për t'iu përgjigjur pyetjeve të biologjisë. Disa muaj më vonë, AI mori një rezultat pothuajse perfekt prej 49/50. Pas testit, Gates i kërkoi AI të shkruante një përgjigje për një baba me një fëmijë të sëmurë.

The innovations that will come from AI will be especially important for poor countries. Many people in these countries never see a doctor, and AI will help healthcare workers be more productive. However, Gates points out that to serve humanity, humans must drive AI.

Market forces alone will not produce AI products and services that help the poor. With the right funding and policies, governments and charities can ensure that AI is used to reduce inequality. Just as the world needs the smartest humans to solve the biggest problems, in the future we will need the world's best AIs to solve those problems.
