Online sales giant Amazon plans to cut 9,000 jobs in an effort to cut costs.

The company, which employs 1.5 million people worldwide, has said the cuts will hit the data storage and advertising sectors the most.

The announcement did not mention the countries that will be affected, but it is said that the positions will be closed in the coming weeks.

The head of Amazon, Andy Jassy, ??has considered the decision as "difficult", but the best for the company, in the long term.

In January of this year, this company closed 18,000 jobs.

Jassy said that in recent years, Amazon's business has continuously added jobs.
