"It's like Albania's"/ The double-headed eagle on Serbia's jerseys stirs up controversy

Serbia will debut this Thursday against Brazil at the World Cup in Qatar (Lusail Stadium, 20:00) with new uniforms that have sparked a strong controversy. "Orlovi" (Eagles) will play for the first time in a world championship with a very controversial logo on the jersey (produced by Puma, as a technical sponsor).

A double-headed eagle different from the one flying on the country's flag, created "ad hoc" for the national football team and in a population with a strong nationalist character, has raised many doubts.

There are those who consider it a disrespectful marketing diversion with the current official symbols and others who see intolerable similarities to traditionally rival nations.

A Serbian fan sees it closer to the double-headed eagle of Albania (except that it is similar to the coats of arms of Poland, Macedonia or Montenegro) than to the one that appears on the national flag of Serbia.
