Albania can secure the European Championship, the Nations League comes with innovation

The Nations League for the 2026-2027 season will be the fifth edition of this competition and will take place with several innovations in the calendar and in the final phase.

The draw for the group stage takes place today, 12 February 2026, in Brussels. For the first time, the league stage will start with an extended window from 24 September to 6 October 2026, where teams will play four consecutive matches.

In League A, the top two teams from each group will qualify for the quarter-finals on a home-and-away basis, to be played in March 2027. The play-off matches for promotion and relegation between leagues will also take place in March.

This edition will be linked to the Euro 2028 qualifiers, offering an additional opportunity for qualification. Albania will compete in League C and is in the first pot of the draw. If they win the group, they will gain a guaranteed place in the play-offs for Euro 2028 in case they do not qualify directly from the qualifiers.
