Maldini prepares return, aims for reunion with Leao

Fenerbahçe is continuing its efforts to bring Paolo Maldini closer to the Turkish club's management structures.

According to reports from Turkey, the former Milan technical director has held a second meeting in Istanbul with the club's presidential candidate, Hakan Safi. The project foresees Maldini taking responsibility for the team's sporting sector and transfer market.

One of the names immediately linked to this project is Rafael Leao, Milan's Portuguese striker. The player, who joined the Rossoneri in 2019 from Lille for 49.5 million euros, has registered 80 goals and 65 assists in 290 matches with Milan.

Although his release clause is 175 million euros, Milan could allow him to leave for a sum between 40 and 60 million euros.

Leao's transfer to Fenerbahçe remains complicated due to the club's presidential elections and the player's current salary of around €5m net per season. Meanwhile, Manchester United and Al Nassr continue to monitor the Portuguese's situation.
