Historic qualification with a 6-1 victory, Egnatia advances to the second round

Egnatia has secured a historic qualification for the second qualifying round of the Champions League, after defeating Moldovan champions Petrocub with a comprehensive 6-1 score in the return match held at the "Arena Egnatia".

After a 1-1 draw away, the Albanian champions put on an extraordinary performance in front of their fans, dominating the match from start to finish and sealing their passage to the next stage of the competition amidst the spectacle.

Egnatia started the match in the best possible way, taking the lead in the second minute with Bitrin. The pressure of the team led by Nevil Dede continued and in the 30th minute Albanese doubled the score, while an own goal by Platica shortly before the end of the first half brought the score to 3-0.

In the second half, the Albanian champions did not slow down and scored their fourth goal through Yago in the 58th minute. Petrocub temporarily narrowed the gap in the 63rd minute, but Egnatia reacted immediately by finding the net twice more. Bakayoko scored the fifth goal in the 84th minute, while Gruda sealed the spectacular 6-1 victory in the final minutes of the match.

With this great success, Egnatia confirms its growth in the international arena and secures a place in the second qualifying round of the Champions League, providing another important evening for Albanian football in Europe.

In the next round, the Albanian champions will face Slovenian team NK Celje, in another important European challenge, with the aim of continuing their journey in the most prestigious club competition on the continent.
