Controversy continues, Croatia files official complaint with FIFA

The Croatian Football Federation has requested clarification from FIFA regarding several refereeing decisions in the World Cup round of 16 match against Portugal. The request mainly relates to goals disallowed for offside, especially Josko Guardiola's goal in extra time, which would have sent the match into extra time.

According to Croatian media, the Federation has sent a letter to FIFA requesting explanations for the interpretation of several episodes. Another disputed point is the penalty that gave Portugal the opportunity to equalize the score after the VAR intervention.

The Croatian federation argues that the referee was close to the action and did not consider the incident a foul. Also causing controversy was the use of "connected ball" technology, which recorded a touch by Igor Matanovic before Guardiola's disallowed goal.

The federation believes that a minimal signal recorded by the sensor should not have a decisive impact on such a match. The federation has stated that the purpose of the request is to avoid misunderstandings and similar situations in the future.
