Italy chooses interim coach

The Italian Federation has officially appointed Silvio Baldini as Italy's interim coach for the next two matches.

Italy will return to the field on June 3 at 8:45 p.m. against Luxembourg at the Stade de Luxembourg. On June 7, at the same time, they will face Greece at the Pankritio Stadium in Crete.

Baldini, currently coach of the U21 team, will lead the team along with his staff, only for the two matches in June, until a new coach is chosen.

Italy have won 8 of their 9 matches against Luxembourg, with a single draw in 2014. Against Greece, the record is 7 wins, 3 draws and 1 loss in 11 matches. The last match between them was played on 12 October 2019 and ended 2-0 for Italy.

In September, Italy will start the Nations League in Group 1 of League A against France, Belgium and Turkey.
