Match day, Albania "sentenced" to win

The Albanian national team will play this Tuesday evening against Latvia, in a match valid for the World Cup qualifiers.

The Reds are looking for a win to keep their hopes of qualifying alive, although they have yet to win against their Baltic rivals. All six previous meetings between the two teams have ended in draws, including the last match in Riga which ended 1-1.

Albania currently ranks third in the group with 5 points, one more than Latvia and two less than Serbia, while England leads by a long way. A draw or loss in “Air Albania” would significantly complicate the Rossoneri’s path to the World Cup. However, recent results give hope, as in the last 5 challenges Albania has won 2, drawn 2 and lost only 1.

Victories have come against Andorra and Gibraltar, while draws have come against Serbia and Latvia. Silvinho's team will aim to finally break the taboo and get the crucial three points.
