The capital derby for PSG, Arnault's team climbs to France. The stadiums

Paris FC has officially secured promotion to the top flight of French football, bringing back to the forefront a derby that has been absent for more than fifty years in the French capital. After a successful season in Ligue 2, the Parisian club, known for its long history and efforts to stay in the spotlight, will be part of Ligue 1 in the 2025/26 season.

Paris FC's rise is the result of a major transformation that the club has undergone this year, including significant changes in its ownership structure. The club was acquired by the Arnault family, one of the most economically powerful in France, in partnership with international giant Red Bull, which has created a vast network of clubs in European football.

Paris FC's return to the top flight for the first time since 1979 coincides with a strategic shift in terms of infrastructure. The club will abandon its old stadium, the Stade Sébastien Charléty, and will play its home matches at the Stade Jean-Bouin, a 20,000-seat facility originally built for rugby. What makes this choice special is the fact that the new stadium is located just 50 meters away from Paris Saint-Germain's home, the Parc des Princes, with which it shares only one street.

This fact makes the new derby between Paris FC and Paris Saint-Germain one of the closest geographically in world football, excluding cases where the two teams share the same stadium. In addition to the physical proximity, the match between these two clubs has the potential to develop into a rivalry with far-reaching sporting and media impact, especially if Paris FC manages to establish a solid foundation in the elite and build a strong competitive identity.
