The third heat wave/ Here's when record temperatures will be set

Meteorologist Lajda Porja has warned that Albania will once again be affected by the African heat wave.

In an interview with Euronews, Porja said that temperatures have started to rise since Monday, while the peak of the heat is expected from mid-week and during the first week of August.

"From Wednesday onwards, we will see a decrease in wind intensity, making the heat even more felt. The maximum temperatures are expected to be recorded on Thursday and Friday, when the thermometer will reach 40 degrees Celsius," she said.

Meanwhile, according to meteorologists, in the first week of August temperatures will reach up to 42 degrees Celsius.

The hottest areas will be the regions of Shkodra, Elbasan and Berat, while very high temperatures will also be recorded in Tirana, Fier and Lushnja. Kukës and Hasi will also face temperatures of up to 36 degrees, while the southeastern areas will remain somewhat cooler.

Meteorology stated that this is the third heat wave during the month of July and that it is expected to last until around August 8-9.

Speaking about the region, Porja said that Kosovo, North Macedonia and Montenegro will also experience significant increases in temperatures during midweek. / CNA
