According to scientists from the University of Cambridge, talking with songs is crucial to helping babies learn language, The Guardian reports.

The study concluded that babies learn languages ??from rhythmic information—the rise and fall of pitch—as seen in nursery rhymes or songs, such as the ubiquitous alphabet song.

The Cambridge team also found that babies don't begin to process phonetic information - the smallest speech sounds - until they are around seven months old.
