The number of divorces in Kosovo is continuously increasing. In the period January-July of this year alone, a total of 953 couples ended their marriages.
The number of divorces in Kosovo is increasing every day. In just seven months from January to July of this year, 953 couples ended their marriages.
According to data from the Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS), in January 2025 alone, a total of 124 divorce cases were registered.
Meanwhile, during the month of February, 141 couples ended their marriages. And in March, 123 cases of divorce were registered.
The number of divorces increased in April, reaching 140 cases. Meanwhile, in May, there were 113 couples who separated.
The number of divorces increased again in June, reaching 135 cases. Meanwhile, July marked an increase of 31 percent compared to June, reaching 177 divorce cases.
Divorces month by month:
January 2025 – 124 divorce cases were registered.
February 2025 – increased to 141 cases.
March 2025 – there was a slight decrease, with a total of 123 cases.
April 2025 – the number increased again, reaching 140 cases.
May 2025 – 113 cases were recorded, one of the months with the fewest separations.
June 2025 – the trend rose again, with 135 cases.
July 2025 – peaked at 177 cases, representing a 31% increase compared to June.
ASK emphasizes that the highest number of separations for this year so far was recorded in July alone.
Divorces by city in July 2025:
Prizren – leads with 22 cases.
Ferizaj – 16 cases.
Peja and Gjilan – 14 cases each.
Rahovec and Gjakova – 13 cases each.
"Regarding divorces that occurred in Kosovo, for the month of July there were 177 cases, compared to the month of June we have an increase in the number of divorced couples by (31%)," the ASK report states.
According to statistics for July, Prizren leads with 22 divorce cases.
"According to ASK data for July, the region with the highest number of divorces is Prizren with 22 cases, followed by Ferizaj with 16 cases, Peja and Gjilan with 14 cases, and Rahovec and Gjakova with 13 cases each."
In addition to separations, the data shows that there has also been an increase in marriages during this period. In July 2025 alone, a total of 1,236 marriages were registered (in Kosovo and abroad), which represents an increase of 45% compared to June.
