"Doctors have removed more than 60 live maggots from a patient's eyes after she complained of itching," reports The Sun.
Doctors who removed the parasites concluded that the patient's eyes were a type of roundworm, Filarioidea.
Those worms are usually passed on through fly bites, but the woman believed she caught them from the larvae of infected cats or dogs.
Some species of eye-dwelling roundworms are known to cause blindness, but they are more commonly found in Africa rather than China.
The doctors told him to come back for a check-up in case any worms or larvae remained.
