The correct method for diagnosing Alzheimer's disease is revealed

A new, accurate method for detecting Alzheimer's disease through a blood test has been discovered, and the discovery could lead to a revolutionary breakthrough in diagnosing the disease, researchers announced.

Measuring the level of a protein called p-tau 217 in the blood can be a very reliable indicator in detecting signs of a progressive state of Alzheimer's disease, reports Sky News.

Experts claim that this method could prove to be better than a number of other tests currently in development.

In a study involving 786 people, researchers wanted to find out which of them would have the least and which of them the greatest chances of developing Alzheimer's with the help of a new test.

"This study is a welcome step in the right direction because it shows that blood tests can be just as accurate as more invasive and expensive tests for detecting Alzheimer's symptoms," explained Richard Oakley, associate director of research and innovation at the Alzheimer's Association./ CNA
