In the heart of nature and history, the village of Zogaj welcomed visitors and lovers of cultural heritage who were introduced to the life, traditions and craftsmanship of the area's residents.

The program included a series of activities that brought to attention the natural beauties, daily life and spiritual riches of the community: local guides in the village alleys and at characteristic points near the lake, historical stories, outdoor cinema, craft workshops, tastings of traditional dishes.

"We are gathered here today within the framework of the "N' fshat" project. In fact, we have chosen 5 villages in Albania. The reason why we are gathered here is because in 2 years we have collected various village products. These were built together with the residents. We have built 14 fishing boats, bought life jackets, repaired nets. We have already applied for the best village in the world, where we are competing with 6 villages and 60 countries with over 200 villages are participating. Shiroka is one of these villages. We presented the products and the tourist offer. We can do kayaking and many other activities. We will also have an outdoor cinema where we will watch a film together. We will be back the next few days with many other activities with fishermen, a handicraft market and discussion tables with several operators to talk about the opportunities that this village has today", said Gent Fetahaj from GIZ Albania.

Zogaj, the picturesque village on the shores of Lake Shkodra, was transformed for two days into a vibrant center of Albanian culture, tourism, and heritage through the event "Village Stories", which took place on June 13 and 14.

This activity is part of the "N'Fshat" initiative, undertaken by GIZ Albania and the Ministry of Tourism and Environment, which since 2022 aims to create sustainable models of rural development by strengthening local communities and their indigenous values. /CNA
