In Korça, a city known for its tradition, culture, and exquisite taste, for almost three decades a family business has managed to become one of the most beloved fast food brands.
“Fast Food Univers” is today a name that is no longer simply associated with a place to eat, but with a history of work, dedication and sustainability. The roots of this business begin abroad, in Greece, where founder Argjir Kristo and his family had the opportunity to get to know firsthand the rhythm, ethics and work culture of modern gastronomy.
There the idea was formed to bring a similar service to Korça, combining quality with speed, but above all with respect for the customer. After returning to their homeland, the family decided to open a small point in the Rinia Park. It was the summer of 1995, a simple beginning, full of challenges, but filled with hope.
Argjiri tells CNA that the first steps were not easy, as with any entrepreneurial initiative. However, each passing day brought him the conviction that Korça had room for a new fast food concept, where taste and standard were non-negotiable. Being close to the university, the bar quickly became the favorite destination of the youth of that time, and with them also of citizens looking for a quiet and reliable place. This clientele, which started as a modest circle, grew and stabilized over the years.
"The idea started when we were in Greece, I worked in a bar that had more or less the same nature. It was an experience that was both good and tiring, but we understood the education and work culture from Greece. When I returned from there, the desire was to open something of my own and we first opened it in Rinia Park. It was June 1995. It is understood that the beginning was difficult, anyone who has gone through those initial ups and downs knows that, but every passing day gave me the confidence that I would really do something good. We tried to bring as many young people as possible closer, since the school was very close there. We tried to bring a certain category closer, part of the Korça citizenry that was the main one at that time. I think that over the years we have really created a good, stable clientele, since the basis of our work has always been care, quality and fast service," he said.
With further business development and growing demand, Fast Food Univers changed location to be located near one of the symbols of the city, the Artistic High School.
Ky pozicionim i ri nuk solli vetëm një ambient më të gjerë dhe më të ngrohtë, por edhe një lidhje të fortë me elitën kulturore dhe arsimore të qytetit. Liceu, me historinë dhe qytetarinë që përfaqëson, krijoi një harmoni të natyrshme me frymën që Univers kishte ndërtuar ndër vite, një atmosferë mikpritëse, e rregullt dhe me standard të lartë shërbimi.
"Pikë së pari, Liceu përfaqëson atë pjesën e qytetarisë të vjetër korçare, të arsimimit dhe formimit si qytet. Ambjenti na ofronte ato mundësi që ne kërkonim nga puna. U përpoqëm të krijojmë një ambjent të ngrohtë, sa më miqësor dhe përpiqemi që njerëzit të ndihen mirë. Dëshira jonë ka qenë që njerëzit të ndihen mirë, të provojnë ushqimin tonë e të kthehen përsëri”, tregoi Kristo.
Menuja e Univers ka evoluar, por gjithmonë duke ruajtur bazën me të cilën nisi gjithçka. Argjiri thotë se kryesori në menu mbetet hamburgeri tradicional që shumë korçarë e lidhin me kujtime të rinisë. Me kalimin e kohës, janë shtuar produkte të tjera si cheeseburger, tostet e veçanta, club sandwich, krahet e pulës dhe sallatat e ndryshme, gjithçka e përgatitur me kujdes dhe me synimin për t’iu përshtatur sa më shumë shijeve të klientëve. Filozofia e punës ka qenë gjithmonë e qartë me ruajtjen e cilësisë dhe përmirësimin e vazhdueshëm, duke u përgjigjur ndaj kërkesave të ndryshme të konsumatorëve.
"Në fillimet tona ne e nisëm me hamburgerin tonë, i cili është tradicional. Jemi përpjekur gjithmonë të kombinojmë shijen me cilësinë, në funksion të një shërbimi të shpejtë po ashtu. Më pëlqen të citoj gjithmonë Jobs-in kur thotë që "Kur klienti juaj vjen tek ju, ju i keni bërë një shitje. Kur klienti juaj kthehet prapë, ju keni krijuar besim. Kur ai e ndan këtë eksperiencë me të tjerët, keni krijuar një markë". Me modesti mund ta them që ne kemi krijuar vërtet një markë, pas 30 vjetësh kemi një emër që nuk njihet vetëm në Korçë por në të gjithë Shqipërinë. Ofrojmë shumë produkte, ku veç hamburgerit tradicional kemi cheeseburger, tost, tost special, bukë të thekur speciale, club sandwich, chicken wings, lloje të ndryshme sallatash”, shprehet ai.
Një element i rëndësishëm i suksesit të Fast Food Univers është marrëdhënia me klientët. Me kalimin e viteve, lokali ka pritur breza të tërë, ku siç tregon Argjiri, studentë që dikur vinin pas mësimit, të cilët sot janë prindër dhe rikthehen me fëmijët e tyre, për të ndarë me ta një pjesë të kujtimeve të vetat.
Ky cikël i bukur, i trashëguar nga një brez tek tjetri, është bërë pjesë e identitetit të biznesit. Pikërisht ky raport i qëndrueshëm me klientët, i ndërtuar mbi besimin dhe respektin, ka bërë që Univers të mos jetë thjesht një fast food, por një markë me identitet të fortë. Sot, emri i tij njihet jo vetëm në Korçë, por edhe në shumë qytete të tjera të Shqipërisë, falë historisë së gjatë, qëndrueshmërisë dhe përkushtimit që familja Kristo ka treguar çdo ditë për më shumë se 30 vjet.
"We have always tried to stay close to our customers' tastes. It is understood that customers have different tastes and preferences, we have always tried to satisfy them within our means. The customer comes back and there is always nostalgia. We have students who came years ago, when we just started working then, who have now become parents. They tell their children that "we started here when we were young, now we are bringing it to you here". This is our greatest pleasure. If the customer feels good and comes back again, this is what we want to achieve" , he says.
Today, after almost three decades, “Fast Food Univers” continues to remain one of the city’s most enduring and beloved spots. Its story is not simply the story of a bar, but of a family that patiently built a new tradition within the Korça tradition.
Every product, every service, and every customer return has been a cornerstone in the long journey of this business. In a time when many things are changing at a rapid pace, Fast Food Univers has managed to maintain what is most important, the connection with people.
This connection is the reason why the bar continues to be part of the city's daily life, a place where generations meet, memories are brought back and the taste remains the same. As time goes by, this family story continues to be written with the same dedication that began in the early days, with work, with passion and with respect for every customer who chooses to return. /CNA
