The final meeting of the Pilot Committee for the French Lyceum project, a joint initiative between the Albanian and French governments, was held in Korça. The project aims to establish an educational institution with European standards, which will offer a double Albanian and French diploma to students who will graduate from this lyceum.

The Ambassador of France in Tirana, Catherine Suard, stated that the French Lyceum will be a joint Franco-Albanian project, with integrated curricula and teaching staff, while students will be able to continue their studies at the best universities in Europe. She thanked Minister Kumbaro and the Albanian institutions for their cooperation, emphasizing that the opening of the Lyceum is expected to take place in September 2027.

 

“ Today we have gathered for the final meeting of the Pilot Committee regarding the French Lyceum project. This will be a joint Franco-Albanian project, the curricula will be common, as a great deal of work has been done to equivalence them by the French expert. The teaching staff will also be common, with French professors and an Albanian part, as well as a double diploma. Students who will graduate from this lyceum will have both the Albanian matura diploma and the equivalent of the French matura, and in this way they will be able to continue their studies at the best universities in Europe, this is very good news. I thank Minister Kumbaro and all local partners. As you know, we have been working together with the French expert, but also with other public institutions for a year to open the French Lyceum. A feasibility study has been done, which has been submitted. I would like to thank the Albanian government for its commitment, the Minister "Kumbaro for the leadership he has now taken on this project, and I am confident that it will move towards finalization in September 2027 ," said the ambassador.

 

The Minister of Education, Mirela Kumbaro, said that with the completion of the first phase, an important step has been taken towards the creation of this institution with a national and international character. According to her, the curriculum and educational program have been prepared to the extent of 90%, while work is underway on the final phase that will turn the lyceum into a full campus with a school, library, dormitory and canteen. An essential element, the minister added, will be the recognition of both diplomas by the relevant ministries of Albania and France.

 

" Today in Korça was the closing of a stage that has been underway for a year. It was the last meeting of the Piloting Committee of the first phase of a very important project for Korça, but beyond it also for Albanian education, a project with a national character, which has to do with the establishment, construction, organization and opening of the French Lyceum. This will be an educational institution with a national and international character, as the aim is for the French Lyceum to offer two diplomas to the students who will attend it: the Albanian state matura diploma and the French matura. The curriculum and educational program have been prepared to the extent of 90%, while work is being done on the final phase of the implementation of the project, which will be more than a school, in fact, a campus with all the necessary elements, school, library, dormitory, canteen and most importantly, with a common administration and management system. An essential aspect of the project will be the recognition of both diplomas by both ministries, Albanian and French ", declared Kumbaro.
