Rainy season/ Work continues to clean the drainage canal in Bahçalëk

Sunday and the beginning of the week are expected to bring intense rainfall to the Shkodra Region. To avoid potential problems, work is continuing in Bahçalëk to clean the main drainage canal, which had been blocked for more than 30 years, causing repeated flooding problems every time it rained.

The intervention aims to restore the full functionality of this vital canal for the area, as part of efforts to improve the drainage system in the territory of the Municipality of Shkodra.

"The Municipality of Shkodra, in cooperation with the drainage board in Lezha, is cleaning this canal, which had not been cleaned for years. This intervention will eliminate both flooding during rainfall that occurs at the Bërdica arch, but also the accumulation of water. This cleaning was requested by the residents for years," said Xhavit Pellumbi from the Directorate of Agriculture, Municipality of Shkodra.

"We received a vehicle from the drainage board in Lezha. This is an important canal because it includes the part of Bahçalëk, but also Berdica. Cleaning the canal will completely clean the area. We appeal to residents not to throw garbage near the canals because even in the fall we saw that they caused us many problems due to the blockage of waste," said Muhamet Muça, Manager, Public Services and Works Enterprise.

Within a few days, the complete cleaning is expected to be completed and the connection to the drainage network in the Bërdica area will be established.
