"The murder of a judge on duty showed the crisis of trust in justice"/

The Head of the High Inspectorate for Declaration and Control of Assets and Conflict of Interest, Evgjeni Bashari, in her speech during the conference Albania, the Council of Europe and the Venice Commission, emphasized the importance of the integrity of the judicial bodies in increasing their credibility with the public.

Bashar said that the killing of a judge on duty shows the crisis of faith in justice.

"The transitional review process has been the heart of the justice reform. The vetting showed that the justice reform created a new culture.

The murder of a judge in the line of duty is an indicator of a crisis of trust, reminding us that justice functions not only through laws, but through people and integrity.

Bashari said that the vetting process is based on HIDACCI reports and during 2024 alone, 101 administrative measures were taken and 23 cases were referred to the justice system.

"Supporting the vetting process has had maximum commitment from HIDACCI, a large part of the decisions have been based on HIDACCI reports.

In this journey, the Venice Commission has served as a moral guarantor that the process was in compliance with European legislation.

Cooperation with international partners is important, public integrity is important because an institution with integrity is not one that does not make mistakes but one that does not accept political interference.
