The process towards membership/ European Parliament adopts the report on Albania

The European Parliament approved this Wednesday the progress report for Albania in EU membership negotiations.

It is learned that the EP gave approval with 483 votes in favor.

During today's vote, amendments 15, 16, 3, 5 and 17 were approved, while amendments 8, 7, 10, 11, 12, 13, 1, 4, 6, 14 and 2 were rejected.

Regarding this process, the rapporteur for Albania in the European Parliament, Andreas Schider, stated that Albania is already a step forward in the European Union.

 "Albania is already a step forward in the European Union, because the special thing that can be said about it, even the recipe for success, is the fact that more than 90% of the population supports EU membership and the political spectrum also supports it. Albania has shown an extraordinary commitment to the European Union model. The opening of all negotiation chapters within 13 months proves the political will to push forward reforms. This is why I am convinced that Albania can be the next success story of European Union enlargement", said Schider. /CNA
