Democratic MP, Bujar Leskaj, raised an issue today regarding the statistical data produced in the country.

Speaking at the Economy Committee, Leskaj said that such a case is also observed with the Institute of Statistics (INSTAT), especially in the failure to carry out the Agricultural Census so far.

According to the MP, transparency is needed in sharing data with the public, so as not to damage the institution's reputation before reporting to EU counterpart bodies.

"The Assembly's resolution and recommendations consist of the request to address the institutions' ongoing problems. In the case of INSTAT, the Agricultural Census should be carried out on time, according to the statistics plan, that is, within 2026. No error that was observed in the compilation of the population census should be repeated. That there were flaws and damaged the reputation of this institution. We must emphasize this, even if it is formulated without penalizing public opinion. I do not think there is anything wrong with it. We can also follow up with a recommendation to deepen transparency, based on this request of the 2025 Progress Report. Also, a recommendation is also needed for business statistics, so that they are not short-term, so that INSTAT meets this request", - said Leskaj./CNA
