Political scientist Ermal Hasimja spoke today about the possible opposition candidate for the Municipality of Tirana, while he himself is one of the names being discussed in the race.

In a television appearance, Hasimja said that so far, several different names have been discussed, from the Democratic Party and the Opportunity Party.

Hasimja said that he had not taken the discussion of his name very seriously because there was no immediate plan for such a commitment.

"It was discussed, as far as I know, between representatives of the Opportunity Party and the Democratic Party, different names were discussed. There was discussion about a candidate who would not be a representative of one party or the other, and a list was made that was also published in the media, which is known. This is factual.

 I didn't take the fact that my name was being discussed very seriously because it had been discussed before, it's not like I had an immediate plan to engage at this level, on the public stage.

"If the opposition really aims to win, the only option is to not only get all of its own votes, but also the majority of the votes of an electorate that views politics with distrust, because it is not convinced who to vote for," Hasimja said./ CNA
