3-year mandate ends/ EU Ambassador decorated by Rama

At the end of his 3-year mandate as European Union Ambassador to Tirana, Silvio Gonzato has been decorated by Prime Minister Edi Rama with the Great Star of Gratitude.

Through a post on social media, Gonzato also shared a message of thanks to Albania, wishing to see it again in the EU, while also sharing numerous photos from the event.

"The European Union has always been for me much more than a common market or an economy. It is about people and the values ??we share: freedom, equality, respect for human rights and the rule of law."

These values ??have guided me during my three years in Albania.

I am grateful for all the extraordinary Albanians I have met along this journey.

I am grateful to have been by their side as Albania moves ever closer to its goal of joining the European Union.

We have been demanding, but fair. We have called for everyone to be part of this journey towards a society where everyone can make their contribution, where institutions protect the rights of every citizen, and where the younger generation has its voice in shaping the future of this beautiful country.

Thank you, Prime Minister Edi Rama, for honoring me, on behalf of Albania, with the Grand Star of the 'Benemerenti' Medal.

This place will remain in my heart for the rest of my life.
