We owe it to SPAK to cleanse politics of the corrupt!

2025-02-11 19:51:00, Opinione CNA

Lolita, a social media page, has published a status in support of SPAK, following the arrest of Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj and attacks on prosecutors.

We owe it to SPAK to cleanse politics of the corrupt!

The post reads:

"In a country where justice has been a tool of the powerful and the rich, where trials have ended as farces and the corrupt have walked with their heads held high, while the scoundrels have been imprisoned for non-payment of energy bills, a group of SPAK prosecutors are writing a new story.

We owe it to SPAK that it is challenging a system designed to keep untouchable those who robbed the country, those who treated the state as private property. For this courage, for this confrontation with the untouchables, we owe it.
We owe it to SPAK, because it is not easy to accuse politicians with power, people who for decades have used their wealth and influence to destroy and take revenge on anyone who dared to oppose them.
We owe it to SPAK that these prosecutors did not sell their souls, were not tempted by fear, favors or money, as most Albanians do, in a reality where corruption has become the norm.

We owe it to SPAK that they didn't think about their own comfort, but about the future of our children. They risked not only their careers, but also their lives, families, and peace of mind, because they knew full well who they were dealing with.

We owe it to SPAK, because justice in Albania has been non-existent for too long. Courts and prosecutors have served as tools to wash away the sins of power, punishing the weak and protecting the strong. But now, for the first time, the myth of impunity is collapsing. They are proving to us that even the powerful must be held accountable. This is a battle that we can only win if we support those who are making it a reality.

We owe it to SPAK to cleanse politics of the corrupt, what we should have done with votes or protests, giving our country a chance for a new beginning. An Albania where justice is not sold and bought, where our children will not grow up seeing criminals having lunch with prosecutors and being rewarded with luxury villas or hotels.
We owe it to SPAK to make us dream again of an Albania where no one is above the law. This is not just a battle of a few prosecutors, it is a battle for the soul of the nation.
Today we owe it to SPAK!" /CNA
