In a touching confession about his health, Elton John reveals that he has lost his sight.

He publicly accepted it on the evening of December 1 on the stage of the Dominion Theater in London, during a gala performance of the new musical "The Devil Wears Prada", for which the artist wrote the music.

“As some of you may know, I have had some problems and now I have lost my sight. I couldn't attend the show, but I had fun," said the 77-year-old music legend.

In September last year, John admitted he had been left with "limited vision" in one eye due to a "serious" infection, but was upbeat and assured he was on the mend.

 "Over the summer I was dealing with a serious eye infection which unfortunately left me with limited vision in one eye. I am recovering, but it is an extremely slow process and it will take some time before sight returns to the affected eye."

Last year Sir Elton played the final show of his UK farewell tour to around 120,000 people at Glastonbury. /CNA
