Scheme to benefit entities linked to criminal structures/ Names of arrested

The Police Supervision Agency, in cooperation with the State Police, conducted an operation in Saranda, where four police officers were detained on their own initiative, suspected of abuse of office and favoring illegal activities.

According to the official announcement, Commissioner Gëzim Bashllari, acting chief of the police station, Deputy Commissioner Andi Duro, specialist in crime investigation, Deputy Commissioner Ajdin Ismailaj, specialist in order, and Inspector Robert Çullaj, area specialist, were arrested.

They are suspected of committing the criminal offenses of "Abuse of office", "Committing arbitrary acts" and "Failing to take measures to end the illegal situation", committed in collaboration.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that police officers are suspected of having allowed and favored illegal construction in the city of Saranda, failing to intervene to stop the illegality and carrying out procedural actions in violation of the Criminal Procedure Code.

According to the AMP, the persons under investigation are suspected of having created schemes for illegal benefits, avoidance of legal responsibility and favoring entities linked to criminal structures operating in the territory of Saranda.

Investigations continue to fully document this activity and identify other persons involved.

"The Police Supervision Agency in cooperation with the State Police have detained on their own initiative the following police officers: Commissioner Gëzim Bashllari, acting Chief of the Police Station; Deputy Commissioner Andi Duro, specialist for the investigation of crimes, Deputy Commissioner Ajdin Ismailaj, specialist for order, Inspector Robert Çullaj, area specialist; against whom there are strong suspicions of the consumption of criminal offenses: "Abuse of duty", provided for by Article 248 of the Criminal Code; "Committing arbitrary actions", provided for by Article 250 of the Criminal Code; "Failing to take measures to terminate the illegal situation", provided for by Article 251 of the Criminal Code; committed in collaboration.

The investigative actions have resulted in the suspicion that these police officers have allowed and favored unauthorized construction in the city of Saranda, failing to take legal measures to stop the illegality and carrying out procedural actions in flagrant violation of the Code of Criminal Procedure.

According to investigative data, the persons under investigation are suspected of having created schemes with the aim of illegal profit, avoiding legal responsibility and favoring entities linked to criminal structures operating in the territory of Saranda.

Investigations continue to fully document criminal responsibilities and identify other persons implicated in this illegal activity.

The Police Supervision Agency remains determined to crack down on any form of abuse of office, violation of the law, and collaboration with criminal elements, regardless of the function or position of the persons involved.
