Turkish citizen detained in Tirana, internationally wanted for terrorism

A citizen who was internationally wanted for attempting to overthrow the constitutional order and participating in an armed terrorist organization is detained by the Regional Anti-Terrorism Unit in Tirana.

The Turkish citizen was stopped while attempting to enter the Republic of Albania through the Rinas BCP.

This is citizen IK, 67 years old.

The detention of this citizen was carried out pursuant to the prosecutor's order, issued on 08.08.2017, pursuant to the decision of the Court of the Judicial District, Tirana, for the assignment of the security measure "Arrest in prison", with the aim of extradition, for citizen IK, for the criminal offenses "Attempt to overthrow the constitutional order" and "Membership in an armed terrorist organization", provided for by Turkish criminal legislation.

The procedural materials were referred to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Tirana, for further actions, in function of the procedure for the extradition of this citizen. /CNA
