A 28-year-old man has been arrested in Durrës after being found armed with a firearm. The man, EV, was previously convicted of murder and illegal possession of a firearm.

According to police information, the driver of the vehicle in which the 28-year-old was detained has also been prosecuted. Citizen AL, 25 years old, resident of Shijak, was prosecuted at large, for the criminal offense of "Failure to report a crime".  

Police announcement:

Durrës/The police operation codenamed "Passenger" is finalized.

The 28-year-old, previously convicted of murder and illegal possession of a firearm, was arrested while traveling armed with a pistol.

The driver of the vehicle is being prosecuted for failing to report the crime.

The firearm, a pistol, is seized.

The "Eagle" Special Force services, in continuation of their work to identify and detain citizens who circulate with weapons without a permit, based on information obtained in operational channels, organized and finalized the codenamed "Passenger" operation for a case of this criminal activity.

During the operation, in neighborhood no. 13, Durrës, a vehicle driven by citizen AL was stopped, where an armed citizen, citizen EV, was suspected of being a passenger.

During the physical search, citizen EV, a passenger in this vehicle, was found to be in possession of 1 firearm, a pistol, with combat ammunition, which he was in possession of without a permit.

At the conclusion of the procedural actions, citizen EV, 28 years old, resident of Shijak, was arrested in flagrante delicto for the criminal offense of "Unauthorized possession and production of weapons, explosive weapons and ammunition".

Meanwhile, citizen AL, 25 years old, resident of Shijak, was prosecuted at large for the criminal offense of "Failure to report a crime".

The procedural materials were passed on to the Durrës Prosecutor's Office for further action. / CNA
