Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said he had a "very good" phone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, reiterating that he will end the war in Ukraine even before he takes office in January if he wins the election. of November 5. 

In a post on his social network "Truth Social", Trump said that as president he would "bring peace to the world and end a war that cost many lives".

Trump stressed that Ukraine and Russia will be able to negotiate a peace agreement that "ends the violence and paves the way for progress."

The presidential candidate further added that during a phone conversation on Friday, Zelensky congratulated him on his presidential candidacy. 

During the conversation with Trump, Zelensky emphasized the importance of maintaining bipartisan US support for Ukraine. 

"I spoke with Donald Trump. I congratulated him on the Republican nomination and condemned the terrible assassination attempt in Pennsylvania. I wished him strength and absolute security in the future," Zelensky wrote on the "X" platform. / CNA
