The Taliban authorities have announced the ban on the radio broadcasts of the Voice of America and Radio Free Europe in Afghanistan, citing as the reason the complaints they received about the content of the programs.

The ban will be implemented starting December 1, according to a directive issued by the Taliban's Ministry of Information and Culture.

Taliban officials have not provided further details about alleged complaints they say they have received about programs broadcast by US-funded agencies.
