A poll has been conducted in Germany on the support of each party, if the elections were held this past weekend.
The survey was conducted by the institute "INSA", in cooperation with "BILD". The data showed that the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party has the same level of support as the SPD, the largest party in the current governing coalition in Germany.
AFD received 19% of the vote, as did German Chancellor Olaf Scholz's SPD.
On the other hand, the CDU/CSU of former Chancellor Angela Merkel received 27% of the votes. While the two parties of the opposition coalition, the Greens and the FDP, received 13 and 9% of the votes, respectively.
Thus, the SPD has suffered a decline in the confidence of the citizens and is facing the far-right party for second and third place.
Conservative opposition leader Friedrich Merz (CDU) blamed the three-party ruling coalition for the rise of the far right.
Meanwhile, Chancellor Scholz blames the various crises for AfD's success and not his government's policies./ CNA.al
